Charge of John the Blind

The charge of John the Blind at the Battle of Crecy 1346.
Claymore Castings are proud to release the first of their Medieval History character sets.

We at Claymore Castings are suckers for a poetic story!

The set is more of a military modelling kit than just wargames figures and have been designed to give the utmost detail.

The horses come in three parts and the riders in two or three. The King John figure comes with a choice of helmets and the falling knight in his retinue, with a broken lance.
The figure are “CS1” and can be purchased at
Figures require assembly.

I have painted three of these figures as other French knights from the period to show that although we have released this as a “John the Blind” set, the figures can be used as any European knights of the period. Future mounted knights are being designed and these will probably have horses as a one part casting. This set is a real collector’s piece and a must for any medieval enthusiast to own!

To really spoil you guys...this month we have also released our French Foot Command 0T50

Philip at Crécy

Walk around images of the completed Kings base and the army so far. First thoughts on an army for Swordpoint...

The King with Oriflamme=Free
20 x bases of mounted knights with plate and lance at 30pts per base=600 points.
6 x bases of malitia with light armour and Pavaise at  14 points per base = 84 points.
9 x bases of Mercenarie Crossbow at 12 points per base =108 points.
4 bases of Ribald bowmen 1pts each=4 points.
About 800 points or so. .

The Kings unit so far. Philip next to the Oriflamme.
A work in progress image of the French division at Crécy, 18 bases in total, just 4 more bases of French knights and I will move onto the Bohemians. The charges at Crécy have always fascinated me and this has been a great project to research and fun to put together.
With all my time being focused on the French, Andrew Taylor has been working on the English longbow for my collection. I hope to paint up some to match in. All I need is a hill and no doubt the French will be shot to bits... time and time again.

The Prince of Navarre at Crécy. Hi standard bearer has the arms of Navarre on his shield and horse. I spent a lot of time researching the Prince but couldn't find any references to his Standard bearer at the battle. If anyone out there has information ..
Probably one of the most complicated figures I have painted. The standard is by Flags of War.
These are Foundry figures on Front Rank horses.
